Gallaudet volleyball

Gallaudet’s Coach Boren, players and alumni lead Team USA to bronze at
2017 Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey

SAMSUN, Turkey – The United States of America women’s deaf volleyball team
returned to the Deaflympics medal stand in 2017 as they earned bronze
medals after a 3-0 sweep against Ukraine on July 28 here in Turkey. Team
USA won 25-16, 25-12 and 25-22 to secure the 1,000th medal given to the
USA at the Deaflympics since 1924.

Farrar was raised in a series of tiny northern Mississippi towns by his
mother, who was deaf. He never knew his biological father. When
he was 13, his stepfather, also deaf, died of a heart attack.

Nebraska Cornhuskers WR Todd Honas won’t let hearing loss keep him from
making noise

No. 43 in your game program is 80 percent deaf in one ear and more than 90
percent deaf in the other. Honas was fitted for his first set of hearing
aids before he’d turned 1.

Folsom Athlete of the Week: Matthew Klotz

Matthew Klotz overcame the flu virus to win three gold medals and two
silvers at the Deaflympics held in Samsun, Turkey, July 18-30.
