Gallaudet women’s soccer

Bison strike first behind Mallach’s 15th goal but lose 3-1 to SUNY Poly

MARCY, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University women’s soccer team lost 3-1 to
SUNY Poly, the top team in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
North Division, here Sunday.

Gallaudet (6-4, 2-3 NEAC) got on the scoreboard first when junior Brittany
Mallach (Milton, Ontario) scored her league best 15th goal of the season
in the 13th minute. Mallach scored her goal after she gathered a rebound
from a missed shot by freshman forward Danielle Wheeler (San Jose, Calif.)
that hit the crossbar and bounced back into the field of play.

The Bison held the 1-0 lead for five minutes before SUNY Poly (7-1-1,
4-0-1 NEAC) got on the board with a goal from Adriana Marcolin off an
assist from Brittany Waterbury. The Wildcats scored twice more, in a
10-minute span, to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.

SUNY Poly outshot Gallaudet 14-4 in the first half and 22-5 in the game.
Neither team added any goals in the second half.

Sophomore goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) finished the game

Trinity Christian       25      25
FSDB              4       7

We a blowout loss against Trinity Christian (4-25 and 7-25) during our DIG
PINK event. We tried to play, but we continued to make errors. In our
stats, it showed we had 44 errors while Trinity Christian had 11 errors.
Most errors were from receiving the
ball. We lost our confidence and concentration when we were not able to
break their serves during 1st set.

September 26, 2017              Trinity Christian vs. FSDB      Home
0-9     0-4

(District)

Trinity Christian       25      25      25
FSDB              9       9       17

Consistency was an issue again during the first two games.  Trinity
definitely outmatched us.  However, when the girls were at their best, we
challenged them.  The girls have got to be able to be on top of their game
for the majority of the match, in
order to secure some wins.  In the third set, the girls got in their
groove and were playing some great volleyball.  For a team with only one
senior and no juniors, I’m really proud of the progress they make on a
daily basis.  I just wish they were being
rewarded for the progress with some wins!

The next game will be at St. Joe, our crosstown rival, on Wednesday,
September 27.  JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity plays at 7:00.  Please come
out and support the girls, if you can!
