BOYS BASKETBALL

MSD wins national title

The Maryland School for the Deaf boys basketball team was selected as 2018
National Champions by DeafDigest Sports.

This is MSD’s eighth championship overall. The Orioles finished with a
24-5 record — the third most wins in a season in MSD history.

The team set several new individual and team records, including most team
3-pointers made in a season (224) and most individual 3s in one season
(Rory Lewis with 106).

The team won four tournament championships. The Orioles won their first
Maryland Independent Athletic Conference championship by defeating No. 1
seed Mount Airy Christian Academy 64-53. They also won the Clerc Classic
Tournament with 81-59 win over Indiana School for the Deaf in the
championship game.

The Orioles were led by seniors John Werner Jr., Stefan Anderson, Esteban
Kovacs and junior Lewis.

deaf making the roster in Australian Rules football

Sam McLarty, who is deaf, was drafted in 2016 by the
Collingwood Magpies, a team everyone hates (hint -
New York Yankees, New England Patroits, etc).
After spending a season with the Collingwood farm
team, he has made the top roster for this 2018
season. Hopefully he will get his share of playing
time.
