Gallaudet baseball wraps up Spring Break swing

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Gallaudet University baseball team concluded its
Spring Break trip here Friday with a 15-3 loss to North Park University at
the Player Development Complex – Field 3.

Gallaudet (3-12-1) fell behind early as North Park (5-7) scored twice in
the first, second and fourth innings to build a 6-1 lead through four
innings. GU scored runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings.

Senior Kyle Gumm (Dallas, Texas) and sophomore Winston Lane (Brooklyn
Center, Minn.) recorded two hits each while junior Cameron Upton
(Vicksburg, Miss.) had a RBI single in the seventh.

Freshman starting pitcher Ethan Denson (Huffman, Texas) pitched 5.1
innings where he allowed 10 runs on 13 hits, walked one and struck out
four.

North Park’s Josh Smith (2-2) earned the win as he logged six innings
where he allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, two walks and one
strikeout. First baseman Cullen Gilbertson went 4-for-5, three doubles,
three runs and five RBI to pace the Vikings.

UP NEXT
Gallaudet will return home and make a trip west to Winchester, Va., to
face national power Shenandoah University (8-3) on Sunday, March 18, at 1
p.m.

Gallaudet vs UMBC basketball?

Yes

both teams played each other quite a few
times during seventies and eighties;
UMBC won all games against Gallaudet.

At that time UMBC was a new college and
started playing basketball on Gallaudet’s
level.

Since then UMBC moved up to NCAA-I level

Yes

The Gallaudet Iron Men, seeded #8, defeated
seeded #1 48-39 Randolph-Macon in the
1943 Mason-Dixon Conference tournament
first round game.

The Gallaudet Iron Men, seeded #8,
defeated seeded #5 American University
45-40 in tournament semi final game.

The Gallauet Iron Men, seeded #8
defeated seeded #7 University of
Delaware 42-40 in the championship
finals.

It was a tournament of upsets. All
lower seeded teams defeated higher
seeded teams, and Gallaudet came out
on the top.

Gallaudet defeating a NCAA-III top 10 team?

Yes.

In the 1989-90 season, Gallaudet (12-14)
defeated Nebraska Wesleyan, a Top-10 ranked
team, 78-75.

woman to skip 2018 WNBA season

Emma Meesseman who has played European basketball
in the winter and WNBA in the summer, said she
will skip the 2018 WNBA season. She will return
for the 2019 WNBA season.

Emma, who is deaf, but functions as a hearing person,
said burn out is the reason, and so, needed to
recover by taking leave in the 2018 WNBA season.
