Neild selected as NEAC Softball Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has
announced its student-athlete of the week awards for April 2 and Gallaudet
University freshman Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) was selected as the
NEAC Softball Player of the Week.

Neild posted a .714 batting average in a doubleheader sweep of Cairn last
week. The Bison freshman shortstop went 5-for-7 at the plate as four of
her five hits were extra-base hits. In the first game, Neild had a double,
a triple, three runs scored and one RBI. She added two triples, scored
three times and drove in two runs in the second game. Neild was also
perfect in the field, turning two double plays with five putouts and six
assists.

GU HONORS
This marks the second NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the Bison
this season and Neild’s first honor of her career.

Apr. 02: Hannah Neild (Player of the Week)
Mar. 05: Jacklyn Zacarias (Player of the Week)

note:

Hannah was a big steal for Gallaudet. She played NCAA-II
basketball two seasons at Merrimack College before
transferring to Gallaudet.

Most basketball players only focus on basketball but
she immediately joined the softball team once her
basketball season ended.

In high school she was a 3-sport athlete (soccer,
basketball and baseball). At Merrimack she did not
play softball.
