2018 Gallaudet University football schedule announced

WASHINGTON – The 2018 Gallaudet University football schedule has been
finalized and officially announced by ninth-year head coach Chuck
Goldstein. The schedule features four home games and five road games for
the Bison, who posted a 3-7 overall record and was 3-4 in seven Eastern
Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) games last season.

Gallaudet opens the season on the road in Reading, Pa., against Alvernia
University on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. This will be the first season of
football for the Golden Wolves. GU will remain on the road the following
weekend as it heads south to Greensboro, N.C., to face the Pride of
Greensboro College in a non-conference game on Sept. 8. Gallaudet heads
home on Saturday, Sept. 15, and will host Apprentice School in the
season’s home opener. The non-conference tilt will be a homecoming of
sorts as Apprentice’s new head coach is John Davis, a former GU Assistant
Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator for seven years (2008-14). After a bye
week, Gallaudet closes out the month with its first conference game at
Anna Maria College on Sept. 29. The remainder of the schedule will feature
conference contests.

The Bison will have a second bye week on Oct. 6 before hosting Castleon
University on Oct. 13 at noon. GU will head up to Franklin, Mass., on Oct.
20 to face Dean College before hosting Alfred State College on Oct. 27 for
Homecoming at 1 p.m.

The month of November begins with the longest road trip in the ECFC as GU
travels to Bangor, Maine, to face Husson University, the two-time
defending ECFC champions. GU will wrap-up the regular-season schedule the
following weekend at home against rival SUNY Maritime on Nov. 11 at noon
on Senior Day. This will mark the 10th consecutive year these two programs
have ended the regular season playing each other.

Gone from the ECFC is Mount Ida College, who surprisingly closed its doors
this spring. The loss of Mount Ida was felt across the ECFC as every
member lost a conference game and is being forced to play nine games or
find another non-conference game to play the standard 10-game schedule.
