OUISVILLE, Ky. – The Gallaudet University men’s soccer team wrapped up its
Kentucky four-day trip here Sunday with a 2-1 loss to Spalding University
in a non-conference game.

Gallaudet (0-2) scored its first goal of the 2018 season in the final
minute of the game when junior Samer Abualya (Whitestone, N.Y.) scored his
first collegiate goal at the 88:54 mark. Abualya’s goal was assisted by
sophomore Alton Markel (Buda, Texas).

The two teams played to a scoreless tie, 0-0, in the first half as the
host Golden Eagles held a slim 5-4 edge in shots.

In the second half, Spalding (2-0) got on the scoreboard twice.

Freshman goalie Shane Angel (Mechanicsville, Md.) made eight saves in the
loss.

delay in getting 300th career football win

Deaf coach Gary Klingensmith (Juniata HS-PA)
has 299 career wins.

His team lost 20-13 on Friday night, and is
0-2 for the season.

His next game is this coming Friday night
against Susquenita HS (0-2).

He knows what patience is. He inherited a
Gallaudet team that had a 18-game losing
streak in 1965. He lost his first seven
games, stretching the losing streak to 25.
Finally Gallaudet won, 21-12 over cross
town rivals DC Teachers College.

Are boos from hearing fans at sporting events
captioned?

DeafDigest Sports editor remembers attending
a baseball game with his hearing family members.

An unpopular player came up at bat. The fans
immediately booed him.

No one told the editor about the booing until
family members told him about it.
