Marie Phillip volleyball

Location: Cambridge School of Weston, Weston, MA
Result: MPS 3, CSW 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-20)

The Marie Philip School Lady Ghosts started our Homecoming weekend by
visiting the Cambridge School of Weston for an IGC league match.  The
support from our school at the pep rally earlier today galvanized our
players and we controlled most of the match.  Zora had an incredible
serving match!

In the 1st set Zora set the tone by starting us with 8 consecutive service
points.  Our other servers picked up from where she left off and we won
25-14.

In the 2nd set, Zora rallied the Lady Ghosts from a 15-9 deficit to a
25-15 set win with 15 consecutive service points!  A lot of credit is
shared by her teammates as all the girls played disciplined defense and
made good judgements and decisions on the fly.

Our serving was more balanced in the third set, and all three of our
available subs made great aces and kills.  The Gryphons continued to play
hard, but we were able to hold on for a 25-20 set win and 3-0 match
victory.

Our next match is tomorrow (Saturday) as we will host the American School
for the Deaf for Homecoming Day.  Our match will start at 12 P.M.  Our
season record is now 3-2 (2-2 IGC).

random deafsports thoughts

Six and eight man football rules can be confusing

some games are played on a 100 yard football field

some games are played on a 80 yard football field

some six man games allow quarterback to hand off the ball

some six man games require quarterback to pitch out

some states enforce 45-point blow out rule

some states allow game to continue even if it is a blow out

and in some cases, the home team decides the game
rules, catching opponents off guard, trying to
re-learn few minutes before the game starts!

even with 11 man football, some states do not allow
blocking below the waist

And so on!
