Riverside 8-man football is in dire need of scheduling a deaf school for

both Div. 1 and Div. 2, up to 6-8 teams each) here that weekend so you may

random deafsports talk

So much controversy over bad referee calls during the
NFL playoffs.

It happened at the national deaf basketball tournament
in 1969. In a first round game top seeded Los Angeles
faced unseeded Washington, DC.

In the dying seconds, a Washington, DC player was at the foul
line, and he hit on that foul shot that would have won the
game.

The official game scorer, himself from Los Angeles, “did not”
see the foul shot and did not mark it down on the scorebook.

After so much arguing, the referees disallowed the foul shot
on grounds that it was not in the scorebook.

The game went into overtime, and Los Angeles got away with
the win 79-76, a game they would have lost if the
free throw shot was counted.

The fans talked all about this free throw controversy
throughout the tournament and at home.
