American basketball

ASD Boys and Girls Varsity basketball traveled to NYSD tonight to take on
the Tornadoes.

Boys played in the first game tonight in what turned out to be a heavily
contested and controversial finish as it was a back and forth affair.
Tigers came back in the end of the game to push it into overtime, took a
small lead into overtime before watching the Tornadoes tie it up again for
a double overtime game. Second overtime was back and forth. At the buzzer
the Tigers hit what they thought was a game winning basket as it was
counted by the far side official but was waved off as too late by the
official under the hoop. Video from NYSD is inconclusive as the camera
panned away for the shot. Tigers fell by a score of 64-65. Record is 5-7
on the season.

Girls battled the Tornadoes in the nightcap and continued to work on their
team chemistry as they are back to having their full roster for just the
second game this season. The game was tied 8-8 at halftime and the Tigers
took a 12-10 lead into the fourth quarter. Offenses picked up in the
fourth quarter, however after the Tigers lost a player to fouling out NYSD
took control of the game pulling away for a 23-18 victory over the Tigers.
Girls fall to 4-8 on the season.
