men’s
Bison win second straight at home as Gallaudet takes down St. Elizabeth,
83-79

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men’s basketball team won its second
straight game at home here Wednesday night as the Bison defeated the
College of Saint Elizabeth by four points, 83-79, on Padden Court in the
Field House in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division
contest.

Gallaudet (4-15, 4-7 NEAC) led for the majority of the game as St.
Elizabeth (10-8, 5-5 NEAC) was only able to tie the game four times but
never got the lead. GU led 41-27 at the half and scored 42 points in the
second half.

women’s
GU wins fifth straight as Bison clip Eagles

WASHINGTON – A strong fourth quarter led the Gallaudet University women’s
basketball team to an 82-69 win Wednesday night over the College of Saint
Elizabeth in a showdown between the top two teams in the North Eastern
Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division.

Gallaudet (12-8, 9-2 NEAC), who has won five straight games, flexed its
muscle in the final 10 minutes as the Bison scored 24 points to break open
a six-point game, 58-52. The Bison made 12 field goals as they shot 57.1
percent from the field while St. Elizabeth (8-6, 7-3 NEAC) went cold. The
visiting Eagles only made 4 of 19 shots from the field (21.1 percent) and
if not for 9-for-10 from the free throw line the game would of been a
runaway.

random deafsports thoughts

everytime an athletic director retires and someone new
becomes the replacement, there is always a worry for
DeafDigest Sports editor – will the new athletic director
send in the scores and updates? Some retiring athletic
directors explain this with the replacement, and some
of them don’t.

And even when the the retiring athletic director
explains, always some replacements that will listen
and that some won’t!

Deaf athletes lose out on recognition if the
new athletic director don’t send in updates!
