will be in Maryland next week.  We want to wish them all good luck and
thank them for representing CSD during the break!

Nichigan track

April 16, we had our fourth track meet. It’s nearly halfway to finish the
season. The weather was so nice. NO wind and NO Rain. Perfect for us to
participate. They competed against Webberville and Morrice. Track Girls
Coach witnessed Ky’Ren broke one MSD alumni student, Calen Kempf’s Discus
record that held since 2011. Congratulations to Ky’Ren.  Keep running!! We
were worried about the rain all day, but it fired up out Tartars! They
continue to get better each meet and today was no exception. We had one
athlete break a school record! Which naturally was followed by a happy
dance! I also want to shout out to our fans that follow us to each meet.
After a long hard day it’s always nice to get a hug from (Chloe’s)
grandma!

Next track meet will be on Tuesday April 23 at New Lothrop.

USADB national basketball tournament

part of a posting

Huge congratulations go out to both Graham Bodnar and Matthew Fey, two
Manitobans on the Canadian National Deaf Basketball Team on their historic
championship win at the USA Deaf Basketball National Championships in
Indianapolis, Indiana.

Team Canada won the National Championship (Division 2) by beating
Philadelphia, Kentucky, Illinois, and Florida.  Graham was named the
Tournament MVP.

This marks the first time a Canadian team has won a Gold Medal (or any
medal) at this event.

Both Graham and Matt were identified for the team at the 2018 Canada Deaf
Games that were played in Winnipeg that featured 3×3 basketball.

Ramona was also an accomplished athlete. From the ages of 30 to age 52,
she was a softball pitcher in the Womens Softball League. She could always
be counted on to hit a very needed home run. Ramona was a teammate with
her two daughters, Roberta Breshears Frigon and Jacqueline Nahrgang;
sister Penny Jensen-Haynes; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Breshears. Ramona
received many softball awards including State MVP as a pitcher. Other
teams would taunt her pitching, not knowing she was deaf.

note:
she graduated from Montana School for the Deaf and Blind
