2019 football schedules

So far DeafDigest Sports has 4 football schedules
for the 2019 season.

If you have completed your football schedule, please
email it to barry@deafdigest.com

According to feedback from some coaches, two teams are
seriously not having football this coming season. That
would mean two less deaf teams. Not the best news!

thank you

Old restaurant; new restaurant

Last night the Gallaudet men’s basketball team had its
end-of-season awards dinner at the new restaurant – Union
District Oystar Bar & Lounge. It is located a block away
from the Gallaudet campus. DeafDigest Sports editor was a guest.

Four employees at that restaurant are deaf; a couple of them
were past Gallaudet athletes.

That new restaurant was previously Gusti’s (G & G as renamed
later). It was a popular weekend hangout for Gallaudet
students that craved pizzas and Italian food.

Anyway Gusti’s was the sponsor of the Gallaudet club
hockey team during the late sixties and early seventies,
providing the team with uniforms and league entry
fees. That team, loaded with hockey-playing Canadian
students, won a conference championship one season.

So, the old restaurant helped sponsor the Gallaudet
hockey team.

And the new restaurant providing employment to past Gallaudet
athletes.

Nice to know the restaurant’s links to Gallaudet athletics.
