Eat Chipotle, help Gallaudet University Men’s Basketball

Calling all burrito lovers,

Foil your dinner plans and stop by the Chipotle at 40 Massachusetts Ave NE in
Washington for our fundraiser on Monday, May 06 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm. We’re
raising money to support Gallaudet University Men’s Basketball, so just download
a flyer from the link below or mention the fundraiser at checkout and they’ll
donate 33% of the proceeds to the cause!

Hi Gallaudet Basketball supporters,

We are doing this fundraiser to support our basketball team’s trip to Costa Rica
this August for our first ever summer foreign tour as permitted by the NCAA and
done in many other universities but never done at Gallaudet. We will do two
community services while at Costa Rica; a free clinic for Deaf children in Costa
Rica and the Special Olympics along with playing 3 games in Costa Rica.

Coming to eat at Chipotle at the Union Station on Monday, May 6 between 4 to 8
pm and showing them our flyer will be sure that 33% will go to the Basketball
team. You can show them the flyer from your phone.

Please do help share this with other people as the more that come to eat there,
will help us greatly! Again, just be sure to show the cashier our flyer on your
mobile phone or print the flyer.

If you cannot come, please do consider making a tax deductible donation, any
amount is appreciated and helpful and adds up quickly to:

https://www.gallaudetathletics.com/department/donate

and put “Gallaudet Men’s Basketball Costa Rica” in the comment box.

Thank you for your support in advance.

Can’t wait to see you!

Michigan track

April 30, MSD competed against Flint Powers Catholic, Davison and Saginaw Arthur
Hill. The weather cooperated for us for few hours to let the meet ran smooth and
fast before pour rainy came in. We had amazing support from our friends in the
dorms, family, and a few unexpected guests! The athletes realized that warming
up is important, especially when it’s so cold! 3 more left until regionals. Time
to show what we are made of!

Next Track meet will be Wednesday May 1st at Birch Run

Did you know that Curtis Pride was the first deaf baseball player of the
modern era, the first in the majors since Dummy Hoy’s retirement in 1903.
He now coaches baseball at Gallaudet

wrong, wrong!

Dick Sipek played in the majors for one season in 1945 with
Cincinnati Reds. He had a long career in the minors as a
steady .300 hitter

Women’s hoops roster set: Local team set to start in June pending schedule
release

The first roster of the Oklahoma Tatanka, Muskogee’s dip into the world of
minor league women’s basketball, has been set following two Saturdays of
tryouts.

Rounding out the roster is Saranna Fewel, a 5-5 forward who played at
Oklahoma School for the Deaf.

The team is scheduled to play in the Dallas-based Women’s Minor League
Basketball Association. The season will run from June to August and home
games will be at the Civic Center.

note:
DeafDigest Sports editor was curious about Saranna Fewel.
She was a Deaf All-American girls’ player – way back in
2006’s.

the national deaf basketball tournament ended about two
weeks ago – yet there was an announcement today of
tournament stats being available on-line.

we have computers that can do the job in a very short
time – so why two weeks of waiting?
