Fremont sports

CHEERLEADING –

The team made a long trip with football to Hoopa Valley last week and
enjoyed the game and scenery very much.  New individuals on the winter
cheerleading team
roster will make the trip with football to the Northern Coast Sectional
game in Ferndale on Saturday!  The team is bringing its spirit and rooting
for football to
win and continue in the playoffs, see the attached bracket.

CROSS COUNTRY –

The team are practicing and staying focused until the NCS Championship
next Saturday November 23 at Hayward High School.

FOOTBALL –

The football team has been on a roll in the last three weeks going up in
the NCS rankings from #12 to #9 to get in the playoffs in the #7 spot
after a convincing
60-26 win at Hoopa Valley High School to take their spot!  The boys know
that we have already been in the playoffs for a while and will keep
rolling.  We are
especially humbled to be part of an elite group this time as our
division’s bracket has become stronger this year and been cut off from 16
to 8 teams this year.  We
are honored to share the same field with a storied program in Ferndale
this Saturday!

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK –

IVAN VASQUEZ – Our special team specialist has always been a sure tackler
with a high motor.  More recently, he has took up an expanded role
defensively and he
contributed with 5 tackles and a pass breakdown.  Due to his commitment in
practice and fearless approach to the game, he will become a big part of
our plans in the
playoffs!

random deafsports talk

Football playoffs are coming up this weekend
and DeafDigest Sports editor remembers reading
about one playoff championship game played
under the most miserable weather conditions
possible (heavy rain and heavy winds).

It was the 1977 championship game that
Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind
won. The football game should have
been postponed because the field
was unplayable and everyone on the
field – players, coaches and referees
were suffering. Bottom line – Colorado
won.
