Gallaudet stung by Hornets on the road, 74-60

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Gallaudet University men’s basketball team lost to
Shenandoah University, 74-60, on the road here on Sunday evening in a
non-conference game.

Gallaudet (0-7) led several times in the first half as its biggest lead
reached six points, 18-12, at the 13:21 mark. The Bison later regained the
lead, 22-21, on a Steve Valencia-Biskupiak (Riverside, Calif.) basket with
8:31 left before the break. Shenandoah (3-2) took over from there and went
on a 21-9 run to take a 42-31 lead into intermission.

In the second half, GU was able to climb back into the game and cut the
margin down to three, on several occasions, but couldn’t regain the lead.
The Hornets pulled away at the end by making their free throws.

Senior guard Noah Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) led the Bison with 16
points and five rebounds while his uncle, Valencia-Biskupiak, finished
with 13 points, five boards, three assists, three steals and two blocks

Bison get clipped by Hawks, 62-50

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women’s basketball team dropped a
non-conference game to Hunter College, 62-50, here Saturday afternoon in
the Field House.

Gallaudet (1-2) fell behind early to Hunter (2-4) as the visiting Hawks
jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead and extended the lead to 20-4 with just
under two minutes left in the opening quarter. Hunter took a 23-6 lead
into the second quarter. The Hawks held a 16-point lead, 30-14, with six
minutes left before halftime. Gallaudet went on a run to cut into the
deficit. The Bison closed out the first half on a 12-5 run to enter
intermission down nine, 35-26.

Gallaudet scored 16 points in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to
catch the Hawks.

The Bison were led by freshman forward Cassidy Perry’s (Frederick, Md.)
double-double as she scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to go with
one block, one steal and one assist

Gallaudet falls to Rutgers-Camden by 10 points

WASHINGTON – For the third straight game, freshman forward Cassidy Perry
(Frederick, Md.) was the leading scorer for Gallaudet University’s women’s
basketball team as they hosted Rutgers University-Camden on Sunday
afternoon in the Field House. Perry’s 17-point and nine-rebound game was
not enough to carry the Bison past the Scarlet Raptors as the visitors won
by 10, 67-57.

Senior guard Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) was the second-leading
scorer on the Bison squad with 15 points and 11 rebounds (nine on the
defensive end) to go with two assists and one steal
