Minnesota girls’ basketball

Lost 33-58 to Community of Peace Academy. We played them back in December
and lost by a much larger margin so it was good to see our girls improving.
We were down by 9 at halftime, fatigue and boxing out hurt us in the 2nd
half.

D. Schwartz- 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks
J. Johnson (#5)- 2 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
E. Olakunle- 10 points, 12 rebounds and 2 steals

4-8 record.

Minnesota boys’ basketball

We lost 61-39 but this game is a great way to boost our confidence before
our Great Plains School for the Deaf (GPSD) basketball tournament at
Oklahoma next weekend.
We are improving with our ball movement and execute our plays. We saw a
much
more fast break from this game but we missed a lot of easy layups. We will
need to work on reading the ball and box out for a rebound.  Rebound is
one
of the important factors in the game to win a ball game. We have some time
to practice those little things before gpsd weekend.

Record 0-11

Stats

Benny Dow 18pts, 5 ast, 4 rebs and 4 steals

Jonathan Mejia 9pts, 6 rebs

random deafsports talk

Riverside 8-man football team is seeking
an opponent with a deaf 8-man football team.

Hope Riverside will find a game.

This leads to another matter – normally DeafDigest
Sports would start collecting football schedules
now for the following football season.

DeafDigest Sports editor has decided to wait until
the spring months to start collecting these schedules.

There have been cases of some deaf schools winding up their
schedules as early as January or February – only to decide
later on to cancel their football seasons. This is the
reason for the wait until spring time.

If you, however, have completed your schedule now, you
can send these to DeafDigest Sports editor today.

Thank you.
