FSDB VBB MD Tournament Results 1/25

Hello Dragon Fans.  For the 68th Annual Mason Dixon Boys Basketball Tournament,
we travelled to Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville.

We were seeded #3 going into the 9-man tournament.  There are 11 schools in the
Mason Dixon conference, but 2 couldn’t make it- ENC and Virginia.  Last year we
finished in 3rd with Mississippi claiming the crown and Alabama being the
runner-up.

This year, we were able to advance to the Championship game, but fell short to
Alabama in overtime.  We trailed for the whole game until mounting a furious
rally to tie the game up at 38-38.  We had the ball last but couldn’t convert to
end the game.  In overtime, Alabama had our number and built too large of a lead
for us to get in an offensive groove.

Matthew Guillou, Marcus Guillou, and Luis Merced were selected on the
all-tournament team.  Justin Cabrera sank 8 of 12 3-pointers in the 3-pt
shooting contest to take home the crown!

random deafsports talk

Years ago deaf club basketball teams constantly
talked about one issue all the time.

What was the issue?

Weather!

This meant being careful in not scheduling distant
games with other deaf clubs that required a lot
of traveling during bad weather!
