Gallaudet begins the season with a sweep of Trinity Washington

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University softball team opened its 2020 season
on a chilly Friday evening at home with a sweep of Trinity Washington
University.

The Bison (2-0) dominated the doubleheader, with 17-1 and 14-1 wins, both
in five innings against the visiting Tigers (0-2).

Game 1: Gallaudet 17, Trinity Washington 1 (F/5)
Freshman Emma Giuntoli (Austin, Texas) tossed a no-hitter striking out 12
in the process. Gallaudet scored eight runs in the first inning and never
looked back. Freshman Ariel Senics (Fishers, Ind.) finished with six RBI
and two inside-the-park home runs, with one coming in the first inning and
the other in the third.

Game 2: Gallaudet 14, Trinity Washington 1 (F/5)
Gallaudet scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a 14-1 victory
in game two. With a runner on second, Senics hit her third inside-the-park
home run on the evening as the Bison led, 4-0. Karolina Bednarczyk
(Queens, N.Y) followed with a home run of her own to extend Gallaudet’s
advantage.

Fremont boys’ basketball

On March 4th, the Boys Basketball and Cheerleading season finally ended
and we shifted to spring mode full-time.  I wanted to take this time to
congratulate the
teams for getting to the Section Championship Game and the State Playoffs.
While we did not win, we carried over a huge goal to next year.

random DeafSports thoughts

It is always amazing for basketball players
to immediately switch to baseball and softball
and track after their seasons end so close to first
games of the season.

It ideally would require maybe a couple of
weeks of practice before getting ready for
the season’s openers.
