Gallaudet Athletics announces decision on spring semester sports

Gallaudet University will not participate in intercollegiate athletics
this spring semester. The decision to cancel intercollegiate athletics
competition for winter and spring sports was made to ensure the health and
safety of students, faculty, staff, and the community amid the
unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tennessee girls’ basketball

Tennessee School for the Deaf Athletic Director Rene Skelton said her
school will not play basketball this season due to COVID-19.

“We will be hiring a new girls’ basketball coach next year,” she added.

AUSTIN — After playing four consecutive games where the games ended before
regulation, Our Lady of the Hills got in some extra work on Friday night
against the Texas School for the Deaf.

The Hawks had to rally in overtime to win 53-51 in its toughest game of
the season.

TSD was 3-3. The opponent is now 5-0.

TSD (4-3) defeated  Castle Hill (0-6) 60-42 to improve 4-3 for the season.

Next game: Logo Preparatory Academy at Sugarland, TX at 7:00 pm.

With one more game left in the regular season, TSD Rangers clinched the
number one seed in their district for the playoffs.

Derrick Coleman

The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing in four running backs for tryouts this
week ahead of Sunday’s AFC West showdown with the Denver Broncos.

One of those backs is Derrick Coleman, who was the fullback on the Seattle
Seahawks’ 2013 Super Bowl championship team. Coleman was the first legally
deaf offensive player in NFL history.

football for a couple of years and he’s not getting any younger,
and the Raiders will need to adjust to his deafness. Some teams
do, some don’t

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men’s basketball program is excited
to announce online ordering information for those fans, alumni, etc.,
interested in purchasing a copy of the Gallaudet University Men’s
Basketball History Book (1904-2019) written by Gallaudet Athletics Hall of
Famer Barry Strassler.

The book made its debut back on February 15, 2020, at the annual Alumni
Madness Day. The Bison men’s basketball program held a reunion that
evening where Strassler signed copies of the book.

For those not in attendance, you can now purchase your own copy for $35
