deaf boxer

part of newspaper story

The Kash Farooq was taken the distance by deaf boxer Luis Gerardo
Castillo, of Mexico, but after 10 rounds there was no doubt over the
outcome as Farooq claimed the WBC International title.

The 25 year-old got the nod from all three judges, with two scoring it a
perfect 100-90 and one giving a round to Mexican 100-91 on the undercard
of the final Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood of the summer.

note:
What is WBC International title? Boxing multiple championships are
confusing as is!

former Gallaudet footbal coach described as a legend

A newspaper story, talking about local football in
Pennsylvania, said that Gary Klingensmith was a
high school coaching legend.

note:
he notched over 300 career wins before retiring.
He coached Gallaudet three seasons in the sixties,
and led his team to wins over Frostburg, Shepherd
plus snapping a 25-game losing street that he
inherited.

He is deaf and was a running back/wing back at Penn
State before taking over the Gallaudet coaching job.

He turned down a free-agent offer from New York Jets.

School, a 4-year program that has had games against

John Davis.

Madras HC orders sports council for the deaf to
select woman player for world championship in Poland

The Madras High Court on Friday directed the chairman of the All India
Sports Council of the Deaf to declare the name of athlete Sameeha Barvin
as a selected candidate and permit her to participate in the Fourth World
Deaf Athletics Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Lublin,
Poland from August 23 to 28.

note:
India did not want to send her to the championship because of her
gender – the only female in a group of 4 males that already
qualified.

She filed a lawsuit and won. Will it be appealed?

Hope not.
