random deafsports thoughts
from Maxpreps
The problem, though, is that information from those games was rarely
reported. The write ups for the games often mentioned only the score.
Since statistics were rarely kept in games prior to the 1930s, it’s
possible that there are many players with high individual scoring efforts
that will never be known.
note:
when Art Kruger gave DeafDigest Sports editor the list of all-time
deaf vs deaf football games, one school was missing – or was it
really missing?
DeafDigest Sports editor, through his research into past deaf
newspapers, discovered a New York/Fanwood game against Lexington
SD.
Old timers at Lexington did not recall if at any one time in the
past if this school fielded a football team. It did not help
when a fire at the school destroyed a lot of documents and
paperwork!
