Gallaudet University Athletic Social Media ranked No. 1 in
NCAA Division III for a third straight year

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University Athletic Social Media platforms,
operated by the Sports Information Office, finished the 2016-17 school
year ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III out of 437 schools, for a third
consecutive year, according to www.d3socialmedia.com.

Gallaudet women’s cross country

Gallaudet’s Kristi Luna earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Women’s
Cross Country Second Team honors

WASHINGTON  – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)
announced it’s 2016-17 Academic All-America™ Women’s Track/Cross Country
Teams and Gallaudet University senior cross country runner Kristi Luna
(Austin, Texas) was named to the Division III Second Team. Luna is one of
45 honorees named to three different teams from around the country.

Gallaudet athletics ranked for a seventh consecutive year in final
Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings

CLEVELAND – For the seventh year in a row Gallaudet University is ranked
in the final Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, presented by
National Association of Collegiate Directors of America (NACDA), as the
final 2016-17 Division III standings were recently released. The Bison
earned 25 points to finish tied for 289th out of 325 schools that received
points from making a NCAA tournament or championship appearance.

Michael Lizarraga continues pro basketball career in Mexico

The season may have ended on a sour note for Michael Lizarraga and his
Mazatlan Nauticos teammates, but the Dixon native and deaf professional
basketball player continues to march at the beat of his own drum.

Michael Lizarraga is not the first player from CSD-Berkeley/Fremont
to play NCAA-I basketball. The honor goes to Don Lyons, early
sixties, who played two seasons of junior college basketball
before transfering to UNLV where he played two more seasons.
He has been enshrined in the UNLV athletics hall of fame.

Australian lawn bowler

Cockburn Bowling Club legend John Ravlich inducted into Bowls WA Hall of
Fame

Ravlich is also a four-time World Deaf Championship winner, five-time
Australian Deaf representative and has been a member of the state deaf
side for more than five decades.
