former football coach Houston Nutt

we all know about former football coach Houston Nutt’s
lawsuit against University of Mississippi that was
thrown out yesterday in U.S. District Court.

He is a Coda; his father Houston Nutt, Sr, was a long
time athletic director/basketball coach at Arkansas
School for the Deaf.

During the fifties and sixties, Houston, Sr and two
deaf brothers Clyde and Fay were a feared three-some
in basketball, leading Little Rock to several national
deaf club championships. They also played for other
deaf teams in Dallas and Houston.

Houston has other brothers that were involved
in coaching – and one of them -
Denny, a basketball coach, has a hearing loss.

It is not known, however, if Houston is fluent
in ASL.
