Hudl is having to re-evaluate the game from 9/26.  They didn’t do the game
properly vs. Trinity Christian for MS.  This will be re-posted once the
information is correct.

Against Trinity, a very strong team, we expected to find fault and errors.
We are working on our weakness to improve for the upcoming games.  The did
play wonderfully.  The communication was there and the effort was there.
The girls did everything they
could to gain momentum and get back into the game.  They did not give up
or put their heads down.  I’m proud of them for holding their heads high
knowing they did what they could against Trinity.

September 27, 2017              FSDB vs. St. Joe
Away            0-10    0-5

(District)

Team    Game 1  Game 2  Game 3  Game 4  Game 5
FSDB    8       13      15
St. Joe 25      25      25

I’m not sure where the Varsity Dragon’s Volleyball team was in the first
set, but the girls came out and played in the 2nd and the 3rd sets.  The
consistency was still and issue, but it was improved.  Unfortunately,
Arlyssa got injured towards the end of
the 2nd set.  She was able to go back in for the 3rd set, but still wasn’t
play at quite 100%.  We brought 8th grader Cassidy Dainty along with us
and she was able to step up and replace Arlyssa and also was able to get
in some additional playing time.

Varsity

September 28, 2017              FSDB vs. Crescent City
Away            0-11    0-5

(District)

Team    Game 1  Game 2  Game 3  Game 4  Game 5
FSDB    12      18      15
Crescent City   25      25      25

Similarly to the game against St. Joe, we had a very slow start tonight.
Crescent City had a couple of girls that could really serve and hit, but
other than that we were really a pretty equally matched team.  It took a
little bit of time for the girls
to get used to Cassidy playing in Arlyssa’s place.  But, Cassidy did a
great job.  Our youngness hurt us in this year.  I wish that we had
another opportunity to play Crescent City this year.  We have two games
this coming week against teams that are at
our level and then we head to the Mason-Dixon Tournament the following
week!

The next game will be Senior Night at home against Halifax for Middle and
River City Science Academy for JV and Varsity on Tuesday, October 3.  MS
plays at 5:00, JV plays at 6:00, and Varsity plays at 7:00.  Please come
out and support the girls, if you
can!

newspaper story

PREP FOOTBALL: GSD earns 36-12 victory on Homecoming

Demarco Brown ran for 199 yards and four touchdowns, and the Georgia
School for the Deaf football team capitalized on four turnovers to defeat
the Carolinas School for the Deaf 38-16 on Saturday in Cave Spring.

The victory was the Tigers’ first of the season and came on Homecoming
weekend for the school.

After both teams failed to score in the first quarter, GSD erupted in the
second and scored 26 unanswered points to take a commanding halftime lead.
Carolinas got on the board twice in the second half, but so did the Tigers
to maintain the lead.

Brown was 2-of-4 passing for 49 yards, a touchdown and a 2-point
conversion. Senior Alberto Pantoja had 62 yards on 14 carries along with
two receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown.

GSD will be on the road next Saturday in Jackson, Mississippi, to take on
the Mississippi School for the Deaf.

Marie Philip soccer

Sept 29

Marie Philip School had home game against Lexington School for the Deaf.
We had to reduce minutes per halves due to Lexington arrived a little
late. We and Lex were scoreless in the halftime.
In the second half, MPS defensive line didn’t do right that costs them a
goal for Lex. We got an advantage of having a penalty kick and got a goal.
We kept trying to carry the ball to kick it into the net, lastly we got
the ball into the net in a minute before the end of the game.

MPS 2
Lex 1

Sept 30

Marie Philip School made a trip to Rhode Island School for the Deaf for
their homecoming game. We agreed with RISD coach to play 8 vs 8 formation.
It was our first time playing 8 vs 8 on the field of the season. We have 8
substitute players it was nice to see all of our players playing the game.
We were tied 1-1 in the halftime. RISD team was on fire hoping to win the
game.

We kept switching our substitute players in the second half. We were
scoreless for quite a while till we slowly scored three goals. Luke
McBride scored his first career goal. RISD team had done marvelous job. We
won second games in two days against Deaf School.

Record: 4-3-1
Deaf league: 3-0-1
League: 1-3

Next game: October 4th, Wednesday.  Boston University Academy  @ MPS
