REPORT
Today the Marie Philip Lady Ghosts hosted the Newman School for a
non-league match.  The Cardinals are new to volleyball this season.
However, they displayed good passing and a very talented player, their
#15.

We were not at full strength today and we used the first set loss to get
used to Newman’s serving and their attacking.  Our girls made some
adjustments in the second set and it paid off fantastically with a set
win.  In the third set, we led early on, but their #15 scored 9
consecutive service points to change a 17-11 deficit to a 20-17 lead.  The
Cardinals were able to close that set to take a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth
set, we lost a starter due to injury but our subs all worked very hard to
keep the set close.  Newman eventually prevailed for a well deserved 3-1
win.

I felt our starters did a good job making adjustments to their own passing
throughout the match.  They also learned to work with players who were not
their usual teammates on the court.  In addition, the subs for today’s
match made some nice plays today and they all tried very hard.  It was
good seeing them in action against more challenging opponents.  We will
apply what we have learned today to our next match, which is tomorrow.  We
will visit the Montrose School for a league rematch.  Our season record is
now 18-9.

Michigan volleyball

Today, 10/17/17, was Michigan School for the Deafяяs Volleyball
teamяяs last home game of the season. New Life Christian Academy was
serving well and we had a hard time receiving. The Tartars got better each
set and were diving for the ball more often, only allowing 2 balls to
touch the floor without contacting it first. The ladies werenяяt playing
smart and gave away a lot of points. MSD lost 0-3; scores were 7-25,
18-25, and 19-25.  Crystal Katcher had a great game with 2 assists, 92%
serving, and 4/4 receiving. Wendy Chicky continues to lead the team while
receiving the most and with a percentage of 89%. Setting for Addison Blair
was a good move, having her get a hand on every play is very beneficial to
the team. She is still extremely motivated & aggressive.  Our new record
is 5-20.  We play again tomorrow, 10/18/17, against Madison Academy.
Itяяs a local game, so come show your support! GO TARTARS!

Game 20

We played against the York and lost 0-3. The WIldcats played against the
high-level team. Therefore, the more we learned how to play volleyball
through by defense like digs, sets, and spikes and the ball kept coming
back to us instead winning through by serves. The Wildcats improved a lot!

Set #1 – 6-25 L
Set #2 – 7-25 L
Set #3 – 23-25 L

(Emma Kane, 2 assists), (Mariana Menzynski, 1 kill), and (Julia Ott, 1
kill)

Game 21

The Wildcats rematch with Finney JV after lost the first game (1-2).
Yesterday, we definitely improved a lot and won both sets (best of 3).
However, we decided to play the third set and won 3-0.

Set #1 – 27-25 W
Set #2 – 24-11 W
Set #3 – 25-17 W

(McKenna Girod, 5 aces, and 1 kill), (Emma Kane, 5 assists), (Neriyah
McPherson, 1 kill), (Mariana Menzynski, 2 kills), (Julia Ott, 1 kill), and
(Diane Ward, 1 ace, and 1 block)

Record: 12-9

Next game vs Destiny tomorrow at 4 pm

Rochester soccer

In an effort to display good sportsmanship, RSD put on an Oscar worthy
performance at Hope Hall. The coaching staff made some extremely tough
challenges on how our team could score to keep the score competitive.

As coach, I was actually hoping that Hope Hall could pull off the win.
With
minutes dwindling down in the 4th quarter, and the score tied at 2-2, Hope
Hall had several opportunities to pull away with the win. However, all
their attempts on net were kicked directly to our goalie.

The game ended as a tie, 2-2. It was a great game for the fans, and a
great
learning experience for all involved.

Final Score:

RSD: 2
Hope Hall: 2

Our next game is tomorrow against Cornerstone Christian Academy, our last
tune-up before we head back to Buffalo, NY for our ESDAA Tournament.
