American basketball

girls’

American School for the Deaf Varsity Girls team opened up the varsity
season with a 19-15 victory against Midstate Christian. ASD built a large
lead heading into the fourth period before MidState was able to fight
back. A basket by Emily Pagan with less than 30 seconds remaining in the
game sealed the victory. The team was led by Craichelle Morrison with 13
points and Emily Pagan chipped in an additional 6 points as ASD was able
to win minus two key starters.

American School for the Deaf Varsity Boys basketball team opened the
season with a resounding 64-8 victory over MidState Christian. First
string played for half of the first quarter before giving away to second
string and third string. Second and third string played out the rest of
the game. Jey Cruz notched 13 points and 6 steals in his varsity debut.
Andrew Parent scored 9 points, several players contributed 4-6 points
each. Andrew Ray Taylor scored 8 points in less than four minutes of
action. Focus from the second quarter on was skill development and
passing.
