GU hangs on to sweep season series with Bryn Athyn on Pink Night

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet women’s basketball team secured a tight 68-65
win over Bryn Athyn College in a close North Eastern Athletic Conference
(NEAC) South Division game here Wednesday night in the Field House on
Padden Court.

Gallaudet (9-13, 7-7 NEAC) saw its fourth quarter six-point lead switch in
favor of Bryn Athyn (6-17, 3-11 NEAC) with 3:41 left in regulation as the
Lions led 61-59. Junior guard Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) came down
and hit a clutch three-pointer followed by a jumper to give Gallaudet the
64-61 lead at the 2:45 mark. The Bison made some key free throws down the
stretch and led 67-65 with just 16 seconds left when Bryn Athyn turned the
ball over, on a double-dribble call, to hand GU the game.

Neild scored a game-high 28 points while junior forward Sabina Shysh
(Tucson, Ariz.) added 20 points and a game-high seven assists. Neild added
six rebounds, five assist, four steals and one block. Senior forward
Kelsey Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to go
with seven points

Gallaudet trailed Bryn Athyn by 11 points, 14-3, early in the first
quarter but went on a 11-3 run to cut the Lions’ lead to three, 17-14, at
the end of the first. GU finally took the lead right before halftime where
it led 35-32.

Gallaudet men’s basketball

Bison punch postseason ticket with win over Bryn Athyn

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men’s basketball team picked up a
crucial North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division victory
here Wednesday night as the Bison led from start-to-finish in an 81-63
victory over Bryn Athyn College in the Field House on Padden Court.

The win helps to clinch a conference tournament berth for Gallaudet (7-15,
7-7 NEAC) as it now stands 6-4 in NEAC South Division games with two
conference contests left. The top four teams from the North and South
Division will make the NEAC tournament based off their divisional records.
The Bison can still improve their tournament seeding with games against
Wilson and Penn St.-Abington, both ahead of GU in the South Division, in
the next two weeks.

Sophomore guard Noah Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) scored 17 of his
game-high 31 points in the second half as he made 5 of 7 shots from
three-point range. He made 11 of 18 shots from the field in the game,
grabbed four rebounds and passed out three assists. Senior forward Andy
Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) added 13 points, nine rebounds, four steals, two
assists and one block. Freshman Lance Wood (Fishers, Ind.) came off the
bench and scored a career best 10 points and ripped down six boards.
Freshman guard Preston Kelly (Fishers, Ind.) passed out a career-high nine
assists, grabbed seven rebounds, two steals and scored six points in the
win.

Gallaudet led 41-32 at the half after Valencia drained a three-pointer at
the buzzer to give the Bison a nine-point lead the momentum.
