USA Deaf Basketball Tournament Coming To Round Rock

part of a long press release

ROUND ROCK, TX — The USA Deaf Basketball National Championship
Tournament will take place in Round Rock this week, a setting organizers
said is replete with logistical advantages to stage the meet.

The event will be staged at the Round Rock Sports Center in a city that
has dubbed itself the “Sports Capital of Texas” this Thursday and Friday,
April 12-13, and at Round Rock High School April 14. The USADB Art Kruger
and Thomas Elliott National Tournament is the men’s 74th annual and
women’s 28th annual championship. This year, the three-day tournament
features 36 of the best deaf basketball teams from all over the U.S.,
organizers noted.

“We chose Round Rock as the location of our national Deaf basketball
tournament for a number of reasons,” USA Deaf Basketball Commissioner
Christina Costello said. “First, we needed a facility in our Southwest
Region, which includes Texas. Second, we needed a venue that met the
majority of the requirements on our tournament checklist.”

past Gallaudet assistant football coach

in a newspaper in Virginia

Football:

Apprentice School made official a hire that was known some time ago,
naming John Davis its head coach.

Davis spent the past two seasons as the head coach at Handley High in
Winchester, taking a program that went 0-10 in 2015 to 4-6 in 2017. He has
been an assistant coach at Central Florida Christian Academy in Orlando
and Gallaudet University in Washington.

note:
Newport News Apprentice is playing Gallaudet this coming fall.
Both teams have played each other on and off for many years.
Will be interesting to see both teams play each other.
