GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced
its student-athlete of the week awards for March 11 and Gallaudet
University sophomore Austin Sliva-Wynne (Richmond, Texas) was selected as
the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Sliva-Wynne threw a complete game in a 6-3 win over Wilson College last
Sunday at Hoy Field. He limited Wilson to three earned runs and six hits
in seven innings of work. Sliva-Wynne issued just one walk and stuck out a
career-high 11 batters in his only pitching appearance of the week. In
addition to his work on the mound, he also had a double and a run scored
in the win.

note:
He played baseball in 2017 as a freshman, and while he was always an
oustanding pitcher, he didn’t pitch – due to a bad back, but played
other positions.

random deafsports thoughts

Gallaudet’s Hannah Neild, a senior (basketball) or a sophomore
(softball)?

She played four seasons of college basketball (2 at Merrimack, NCAA-II
and 2 at Gallaudet).

At Merrimack, she only played basketball, not softball (and soccer).
At Gallaudet, she plays all three sports, hence a sophomore in
softball.

Making things a bit complicated, she is a freshman in soccer
as she didn’t play soccer her first season at Gallaudet.

She is finished with college basketball, but if she continues playing
sports at Gallaudet, she has one more full season of eligibility
remaining in soccer and softball!
