Gallaudet baseball

Bison score six runs in the seventh against Frostburg State

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University baseball team scored six times in
the bottom of the seventh inning to pull within one run, 7-6, of Frostburg
State University here Wednesday at Hoy Field. The Bobcats responded with
four runs in the eighth en route to a 12-7 non-conference win.

Gallaudet (5-8) began its six-run inning with a RBI single by junior Matt
Scuderi (Jensen Beach, Fla.) that plated sophomore Darren Drolsbaugh
(Lansdale, Pa.). Junior Gilwon Seo (Hongseong, South Korea) and junior
Austin Altman (Irvine, Calif.) followed with RBI singles before a wild
pitch allowed Scuderi to score. Freshman Mitchell Dolinar (Las Vegas,
Nev.) came through with a two-run single to bring home Seo and Altman.

Scuderi added another RBI on a single in the eighth.

Gallaudet’s Hannah Neild headlines 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic
All-America NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Team

AUSTIN, Texas  Senior guard/forward Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) of
Gallaudet University headlines the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic
All-America Division III Women’s basketball teams, as selected by the
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Division III Academic All-America program is being financially
supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist
CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19
Division II Academic All-America teams program.

Neild has been selected as the recipient of the Google Cloud Academic
All-America Team Member of the Year for Division III women’s basketball.

Neild, who has a 3.98 GPA as an education major, earns the Academic
All-America Team Member of the Year award for the women in her first year
as an Academic All-America. She becomes the first Gallaudet women’s
basketball player to earn Academic All-America honors, the fourth female
in Gallaudet’s history to earn Academic All-America honors and the first
to ever be named Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.

Neild, who is third in Division III in points scored (649) and points per
game (25.0) earned NEAC Player of the Year honors this season for the
Bison and is a two-time first team All-NEAC pick. The hard of hearing
5-foot-9 guard/forward from Gallaudet, the world’s only university with
programs and services specifically designed to accommodate deaf and hard
of hearing students, is also one of 10 finalists for the Jostens Trophy

No. 2 Fort Sumner 69, No. 7 New Mexico School for the Deaf 36

The Roadrunners were within 22-18 at the half of a 1A quarterfinal at
Bernalillo High School, but the sharp-shooting Foxes overwhelmed the in
the second half.

Fort Sumner outscored NMSD 25-10 in the third quarter to end all doubt of
the outcome. In his final game as a Roadrunner, Deven Thompson had 12
points and 13 rebounds, while Bruce Brewer had a team-high 13.

NMSD finishes with a 22-6 record.
