Fremont sports

LAST WEEK –  The Volleyball team started off league play with two straight
3-0 wins at home over Contra Costa Christian and Oakland Military
Institute, we have won
eight straight BCL league championships and will look to defend this year!
The Football team went to Tracy and had an incredible game but
unfortunately was on the
losing side of a 35-32 aerial shootout despite out producing Millennium
479 to 400 yards.

THIS WEEK –  The Volleyball team will continue league play this week with
Making Waves and Holy Names which will also be our first two JV games.
Football and
Cheerleading will host a “Back to School Day” game on Friday against
Rancho San Juan at 5pm.  Our Cross Country team will have their first meet
at Martinez on
Saturday to prepare for our deaf nationals meet at Oregon next week.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK –

ROBERT GREGOR, the Junior Defensive End was our leading receiver the last
two seasons but he set the tone for us in the beginning of the week when
he was willing to
sacrifice for the team and make a position change to offensive line.
After just three practices, he immediately understood slide protections,
blitz pickups, traps,
and pulls and was unstoppable there producing great blocks for Chris
Renteria who filled in at Runningback and had 118 tough total yards.  At
defensive end, Robert
was his usual self, containing the edge and had nine tackles.

JAYLEN JOHNSON, our Junior Wide Receiver and Free Safety had an awesome
game with 11 catches for 231 yards and 4 scores.  All of this was possible
from Jaylen
always working at full speed every day at practice as he learns our
offense.  Jaylen also produced due to a great team unity that occurred all
week, blocks from the
linemen who was willing to sacrifice, and great reads from our Quarterback
so despite the loss, this week’s progress will be critical for the rest of
the season.

New Mexico homecoming plans

Unfortunately, the Iowa football team cannot come to our homecoming this
weekend due to injuries.  We moved the date to Saturday, September 21st
for our football game.

The San Jon football team will play against our football team.

However, homecoming weekend is still ON with our volleyball game: CSDB vs
NMSD @ 10 am .  We will have the Royalty & Ambassadors introduction at
9:45 am  @ Larson
gym.

Vote for the Week 3 Arizona high school football top performer

Brian Lynch, Phoenix Day School for the Deaf, RB, Sr.

In an 82-50 win over San Pasqual, he ran 17 times for 395 yards and seven
TDs and caught four passes for 100 yards and a TD.

note:

The source said Lynch scored 8 touchdowns, not 7 touchdowns.
The 8th touchdown was on a pass reception. QB Isaac Nunes completed
22 of 27 passing attempts for 192 yards and two touchdowns. The
official score of PDSD’s win over San Pasqual is 82-50., not 80-50.

It is commendable that New Mexico was able to find
a replacement homecoming day opponent, though on a
different date, after the original opponent couldn’t
come to the game.
