Alabama football

part of newspaper story

There is no tradition in sports with the history of high school football.

In Alabama, the first game confirmed was in 1892 — when the Alabama School
for the Deaf played the Anniston Military Institute and tied 0-0. By the
time the AHSAA formed in 1921, more than 100 high schools in Alabama were
playing football.

Missouri girls’ basketball

On Tuesday November 6th, your Missouri School for the Deaf middle school
girls faced the tough competitors of St. Joes at Community R-VI. The game
was tough from
the get go, and our girls had to work extra hard to keep up with our
opponents. The final score was St. Joes 28 to MSD 14. Ja’Kaida Smith led
the team with 8
points, Annabelle Wyrick contributed 4 points, and Isabella Davis added
another 2 points. We were 7/21 from the field, and had 11 rebounds and 6
steals. Your middle
school Eagles will play again on Thursday November 7th at 6:00 p.m. at
MSD. Come out and support your girls!

random deafsports thoughts

A hoax has made its rounds that a British deaf rugby
player has become the head coach of a hearing
national rugby team of Portugal! The deaf man
and the Portugese rugby officers are not too
happy about the hoax.

As far as DeafDigest Sports editor is
concerned it is the first time such a
hoax has taken place between Deaf Sports
and Hearing Sports.
