Texas football

per maxpreps, these 11-man deaf teams were:

1. Texas, 7-5 record, ranked #8,180 best in nation
2. Maryland, 9-1 record, ranked #10,550 best in nation
3. Fremont, 7-4 record, ranked #12,034 best in nation
4. Model, 6-3 record, ranked #13,481 best in nation
5. Indiana, 4-4 record, ranked #13,780 best in nation

the #6 team is Alabama with a 4-6 record. They play
a mixed 11-man, 8-man schedule, six 11-man games and
four 8-man games and is ranked #14,081 best in the nation.

it was a great season for top five deaf 11-man teams, all
of which either had winning or non-losing seasons.

Alabama lost 4 games that were hotly contested (by 10 points
and fewer)

there were four games that involved five teams:
Model 46 Indiana 6
Texas 44 Maryland 6
Indiana 34 Alabama 24
Model 50 Alabama 14

Fremont did not play a deaf team this season; their scheduled
game with Riverside was canceled because of these raging
California fires that threatened the state property, evacuating
these residents.

Texas defeated three teams with winning records:
Maryland, 9-1
San Marcos, 6-5
Lutheran North, 6-3

Lastly, Texas faced teams that were ranked much higher than Texas:
Brentwood, ranked #4,162 best in nation
Savio, ranked #6,719 best in nation
Prince of Peace, ranked #7,076 best in nation
Geneva, ranked #5,171 best in nation

And in the playoffs, Texas lost to Woodlands Christian Academy,
ranked #2,856 best in the nation.

Woodlands Christian Academy, so far unbeaten at 12-0, only allowed
these following points – 16, 0, 0, 7, 7, 12, 8, 20, 7, 6, 7

Yet, Texas scored 21 points, the most Woodlands gave up so far this
season!

And in each game Woodlands limited opposing teams to less than
200 rushing yards. Texas rushed for more than 200 yards in that game.

wheelchair basketball update

Rapids Keep up the Pace Tournament this weekend.  The Dragons went 4-0
with an average margin of victory of 38 points per game against teams from

School for the Deaf, scored 42 points in the 4 games including a team-high
21 points in the semifinal victory over Ft Wayne.  The Dragons improved
their record to 11-1 on the season.  The Dragons will face off against
some of the best teams in the country in 2 weeks as they travel to
Rockford, Illinois.

random deafsports talk

Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind loves football.

But are they a 8-man team that plays some 11 man games

or

are they a 11-man team that plays some 8 man games

or

are they making the best of two worlds, playing 11 man
games against traditional hearing opponents and some
deaf 11-man teams  and  playing 8-man games against
traditional Mason-Dixon opponents (Florida, Louisiana,
Mississippi, Tennessee)?
