Florida girls’ basketball

February 5 vs University Christian

FSDB 12  – UC 66

We close our season with 20-6 record. What a season we had, especially
without any seniors! We are very proud of our Lady Dragons. Regardless of
the blowout last night by UC with a score of 12-66, our girls played their
heart out without Lourdine, out
sick with severe flu.  Without our core player-Lourdine, we still managed
to make points. However we are in 4A division (should be either 2 or 3A),
we feel that UC should belong to a bigger school division due to their
recruitment of many great players.
Our girls were disappointed but glad at the same time because they see
there are a lot of areas to improve, the possibilities of growing into a
better team next year. Olivia was our player of game, grabbed 7 points and
Taria made a great 3 pointer shot!
Thanks to great parents and fans, you all contributed to our successful
season!

RISD Boys Basketball

In our last game before the upcoming ESDAA Division II Boys’ Basketball
Tournament at West Virginia — our boys’ basketball team played host to
Providence Country Day School. We had momentum on our side and were
looking
to continue that. Our Roosters jumped to a strong 11-6 start, but we
allowed one player from PCD to get hot with his shooting and both teams
walked into their halftime huddles tied at 14 apiece.

Our boys came back on the court with fire and renewed energy and we kept
on
attacking PCD with sharp passes, good looks and converting on our drives
to
go along with aggressive defense. Within five minutes, we were able to
break through and started to pull away — finishing up the game by
outscoring PCD 30-13 in the second half to earn a strong 44-27 victory.

Seven out of our nine players scored a basket and we look forward to
competing this weekend in hopes of earning our first ESDAA Div. II Boys’
Basketball Championship since 2015.

PCD –   14  13  – 27
RISD  – 14  30  – 44

RISD Boys Basketball Record: 7-9

random deafsports thoughts

The NFL would not honor the deaf community as the Super Bowl
pre-game ceremony cut off the ASL signing of the national
anthem.

As a result, the NFL is embarassed right now due to
on-line video getting over one million hits.
