Texas football team in state 6-man championship finals

TSD (6-3) defeated San Marcos Academy (6-4) by a score of 39-28 to advance
to the state division one championship.  Texas School for the Deaf will
face Veritas Academy for the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and
Parochial Schools) 6-man football state division one championship on
December 11, 2020 at 6:00 pm.

GO RANGERS, GO!

Past Texas TAPPS (11-man semi finals history)

Texas reached TAPPS 11-man state semi finals
four times during the nineties – and the teams
which defeated Texas all became state champions!

Jinx? Yes. Texas was down 14-0 at half in the 1996 and
1999 semi final games.

If one wishes to compare the Texas semi final scores with
the state championship scores, Texas would have been
ranked #2 in the state during the same 1996 and 1999 seasons!

1993 – Dallas Lexington
1996 – Hallettsville Sacred Heart
1997 – Pantego Christian
1999 – Arlington Grace Prep

part of newspaper story

Rangers will not only rely on athleticism and execution, but also a drum
they use to call the cadence.

the school almost didn’t play football at all due to the COVID-19
pandemic.

Rather than stay at their usual division and play 11-man football, since
the roster was so depleted, the school decided to drop to the 6-man ranks
in TAPPS, the state’s private school athletic association. While the
difference between 6-man and 11-man football is vast, Rangers head coach
John Moore told NBC they were able to adapt quickly to the smaller field
and wide-open style of play.

note:

Gallaudet no longer uses the huddle that they invented

Gallaudet no longer uses the drum that they started using in the 1970’s

Double irony!

deaf world basketball champions

from a posting

Lithuania (2007, 2011, 2015) and USA (2019) have won the men’s World Deaf
Basketball Championships since, while in the women’s tournament, the USA
(2007, 2015), Sweden (2011) and Greece (2019) have captured the crown.

note:
because of fund raising issues, the best deaf American
players often do not play on the national USA
teams. Would Lithuania have defeated the USA team
if all of our best players got together?

Good question!
