Day was hot and humid

52 participants took part for USDGA

20 participants for SWDGA

low turnout due to pandemic, hot weather, slow economy, etc

observer’s personal comment was that regional deaf golf tourneys
are not as big as the old days

observer’s fact – many good golfers are from the mainstream programs

observer’s fact – leadership of USDGA still good under Mike Finneran
and board

Brandon Babineaux (TX) achieved a rare triple feat:  won the open
championship by one stroke, inducted in HOF, and made the USA Deaf
team for 2022

the Ladies European Tour (LET),has been recognised by  Forbes magazine in
the “ 30 under 30 Asia – Sports & Entertainment” category.

There have been quite a few deaf participants in
the past hearing Olympics (not Deaflympics).
Some of them have earned medals in their events.
It is known that Emma Meesseman, a professional
women’s basketball player, will be taking
part in the Olympics. Her team – Belgium
has qualified for the Olympics. She is one
of the world’s best female players, having
playing professionally in Europe and in the
WNBA.

2022 Asia Pacific deaf football olympic qualifying tournament

TEHRAN, Jun. 13 (MNA) – Iran defeated Iraq in the final match of the 2022
Asia Pacific Deaf Football Olympic Qualifying Tournament on Thursday.

In the match that was held on Kish Island, Iran beat Iraq 3-2.

In the competitions, Iran became the champion, Iraq was the runner-up,
Uzbekistan and Korea finished third and fourth respectively, and all four
teams qualified for the 2022 Olympics in Brazil.
