note:
DeafDigest/DeafDigest Sports editor is on
vacation.
This is the reason for the delay in DeafDigest
Sports.
He brings his laptop with him but finding time
for DeafDigest Sports has been a challenge.
Thank you for bearing with DeafDigest Sports during
these delays.

announcement on Deaf All-American and Team of the Year honors
Deaf All-American honors and Team of the Year honors
will resume; there were no such honors last year because
of Covid-19 shutting down many deaf school athletic
programs.
Just a warning, though – schools that do not submit
their scores to DeafDigest Sports on a regular basis
will not be invited to turn in their nominations.
Does not matter if DeafDigest editor picks up such
scores from non-responding schools via newspaper
stories and tweets these schools still will not be invited.
Picking up scores via maxpreps still does not count as
responding schools.
DeafDigest Sports personally thanks schools that
respond on a regular basis.

Maryland then scheduled a last minute game with Silver

Never saw it happen; two games with two separate
opponents only to have both games not played on
the same weekend!

Rhode Island soccer
Our Roosters soccer team traveled to Central Falls, RI to play a game
against a new opponent on the schedule, The Learning Community. Learning
Community came firing
right off the opening kick and was able to quickly send 2 balls through
our defensive line and the goaltender within the first five minutes of the
game.
Our Roosters woke up and started to play with a lot more physicality,
focus, and urgency and it would end up being an evenly matched battle.
Learning Community
would add one more goal on a controversial penalty inside the box within
minutes before halftime and we missed out on an easy goal shortly
afterwards.
The coaches urged the team to forget the first half and focus on improving
their communication and win the second half. Both teams would trade a goal
throughout the
second half, and we were able to pick up a few more shots to no avail —
the game ended 4-1 in favor of Learning Community.
RISD – 0 1 – 1
TLC – 3 1 – 4
Dimas C. – 1 Goal (8 on the Season)
Anderson G – 4 Saves

St Mary’s volleyball
Yesterday the Lady Bisons took on New Life Christian for the first time
this season. The girls were unsure of how this team would compare to those
they had faced
already this year and were in for a quick surprise from the other team.
New Life’s fast paced game play was hard for our girls to compete with,
and with two missing
starters and a lack of communication, the Bisons just couldn’t seem to
hold it together. Julia Bronneberg lead our team with 10 made serves and
Kioney Alvira-Jurado
really was the glue that held the team together with her assists and all
around court coverage. Elliana Sanders had her first in game kill and
Emilylynn Spillman
had her first ace of the season. Our game next week Tuesday has been
canceled, so wish the girls luck as they go back on the road Thursday to
take on CAWNY.

random deafsports thoughts
Is cross country a great sport?
Three deaf runners won their own state championships in the past.
One deaf person told DeafDigest Sports editor that he wanted
to run cross country, but peer pressure from his friends forced
him to play football, a sport he hated.
One deaf person said he preferred cross country, not track for the reason
he was able to enjoy the outdoors – trees, hills, lakes, nature, etc.
What about DeafDigest Sports editor? He loves all sports!
