All-American honors for their top players.

It is a shame.

note:
despite 3 consecutive defeats, Gallaudet ends season with a
winning record at 5-3; that is an accomplishment – a winning
season

Gallaudet’s Hartman repeats as ECFC Defensive Player of the Week

note:
he played both ways in hearing high school; as the team quarterback
on offense and linebacker on defense and developed a reputation for
being very difficult to take down when running with the ball.
He paid a campus visit at Gallaudet while he was a senior but
but did not select Gallaudet at that time. This time, it was
Gallaudet for him.

CONGRATS! The middle school girls basketball team won their first home
game yesterday! The players showed all of their skills on the court. Both
new players and
returning players came together and worked hard as a team. As a coach, I
am so proud of all of my players! I can only see improvement for future
games.

Score: 18-10

Highlights of the Game in Action:

We started off strong! We had our first home win. We swished for 54 points
while we kept them at 17 points. There were a few times where we were late
on defense
when the Lady Knights had a few open shots. Our hands were not in their
faces. However, all of our Lady Dragons contributed to the lead with many
rebounds, assists,
and steals. We also forced many turnovers on the Knights, which gave us
numerous scoring opportunities. We finished with a big WIN.

Stats:

Team Stats: 49.9% Field goal, 62.5% Free throw, 19 offensive rebounds, 16
defense rebounds, 12 assists, 27 steals, 3 blocks, 24 turnovers

Individuals:

Olivia Brown: 23 pts, 2 reb, 4 stl, 4 ast

C. Dainty: 9 pts, 13 reb, 5 stl, 3 ast

I played an all deaf basketball team in high school
and they gave new meaning to playing through the whistle.
They were very good though.

note:
playing through the whistle? That means cheating the ref!

random deafsports thoughts

The proper name of the upcoming deaf national basketball
tournament is 76th Men and 30th Women Art Kruger &
Thomas Elliot National Basketball Tournament

Why does DeafDigest Sports continue to call it
national deaf basketball tournament?

The editor likes to keep things simple and easy
to remember. Much easier than having to say
Art Kruger & Thomas Elliott National Basketball
Tournament.

Both Art Kruger and Thomas Elliott have been
equally well respected among deaf basketball fans.

It is up to historians to figure it out as both
men claimed credit for being deaf national tournament
pioneers. Something to do with letters in 1945
between both men crossing each other at the same time!

DeafDigest Sports is very aware of another rival
national deaf basketball tournament going on right
now. Some said it is more of a “regional” tournament
than a real national coast-to-coast national
tournament.
